Massage & reiki in EdinburghFrequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before your first session.
What is the difference between holistic massage and a regular massage?
+
A holistic massage looks at the person as a whole, rather than just a sore muscle. It understands that the underlying tension or pain in your body might be not only related to a physical cause but to a psychosomatic one as well. It combines classic Swedish massage techniques with a whole-body approach. The session is adapted to how your body and mind feel that day — whether you need deep relaxation or targeted pain relief.
Can massage help with back pain, sciatica or migraines?
+
Many people come for exactly that. Holistic massage can help with muscle pain, stiff backs and shoulders, sciatica, migraines, frozen shoulder and carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care — if you have a diagnosed condition, please mention it when you book.
What is energy work, and what will I feel?
+
Energy work is a gentle, non-invasive therapy combining healing touch with reiki. Hands rest lightly on the body or hover just above it to help rebalance your energy field. Most people simply feel deeply relaxed; some notice warmth or tingling. You stay fully clothed.
Which treatment should I choose?
+
If you have a specific ache or tension, or just feel the need to be pampered, choose a massage — 30 minutes for one area, 1 hour for the full body. If you feel stressed, drained or out of balance, try energy work. Not sure? The 1-hour massage + energy work (45 + 15 minutes) gives you the best of both.
What happens during my first session?
+
We start with a short chat about how you feel, any health concerns and what you would like to work on. Then you relax on the table while the session is adapted to what your body needs. There is always time for questions at the end.
How much does a session cost?
+
A 30-minute massage or energy work session is £30. A 1-hour massage, or 1 hour combining massage and energy work, is £60.
What should I wear for a massage?
+
You only undress to the level you are comfortable with, and you stay covered with towels throughout — only the area being worked on is uncovered. Comfortable clothes are ideal for energy work, as you remain dressed.
How do I book?
+
Booking is online: choose your treatment, pick a time that suits you and confirm — it takes less than a minute. For any other question, use the contact form.
